Havu days and Supai nights....

Highlight reel from Havusupai.

*please forgive the grainy quality of the photos but be mindful that no matter how high the pixel count, river dogs, indian fry bread, heat exhaustion, Matthew's freshly tinted mustache and friends are best experienced live.

Fav Pic of MY LIFE!

Since my photo of a member of the corporate world sunbathing topless in a pair of khakis on his lunch break heralded such little response I was prepared to give up on Fav Pic of the Week all together. But as I was throwing in the towel, 1/2 off Saturday at Goodwill renewed my faith in the awesomely bad. Someone must have atoned for their heinous collection of furs by donating them to Goodwill and thus subjecting them upon the less fortunate. Thank you.

This is me wallowing in the decadence of a fuzzy cardigan with an animal(and Jewels) hot glued to it. I am not sure if it was the luxurious feel of the fabric, the mutated paws dangling on my left lapel, the glass eyes that peered into my soul, or the immediate allergic reaction, but I knew I had to make it mine. Luckily it was half off Saturday so I got it for a mere (or should I say mear cat) $4.49.

Barrio

This is a get well post to our friend Ryan. Please get healthy so that we don't have to make a R.I.P. post, too.

Recently our Hawaiian friend, Lindsay Warner (aka: Linda Warner), decided to pay a visit to the mother continent in order to keep tabs on all of her non-tongan friends. So we decided to make the most of her time here by paying homage to our Mexican heritage (Matthew is 1/8 dual Mexican citizen, and Linda claims to be an impressive 1/4 full blooded Mexican) by going to the our favorite restaurant in Phoenix, Barrio Cafe.

We made the most of the wait to be seated by roosting on all of the local stoops along 16th st. Oh, and Ryan blessed us by wearing Jordan 5's all night. Thank you.

Matthew contemplating a street drink

After getting intimate with the streets we decided that the best thing to do was to get the band back together. A while back Ryan, Lindsay, and Matthew started a screamo band called Apache Tears. We put in several long hours of practice, but ultimately, inner turmoil and a lack of talent (by Lindsay and Matthew) broke up the band. Fortunately, a new member was just the right ingredient to restore that Rock Band chemistry of old.

But sadly, this life of excess was a little too much for our BFF Ryan, and he was hospitalized by mid-morning. The doctors say that he should live.

Get better, friend.

Blaze of Glory

After listening to Bon Jovi's Blaze Of Glory on repeat I decided I needed to put on the tightest pants I owned and get to a mountain.

Need I say more? I think we have all been there.

The Hills Life

On monday night Matthew threw a tantrum like I have never witnessed. I have never witnessed a tantrum like this because I am usually the one throwing it. He nailed it, he moped around and felt bad for himself, he refused to come out and say what he actually meant, it was one of his most touching tributes to me and I had no other choice but to reward his foul behavior. The man was in a spiritual and existential funk and when that happens there is only one question to ask yourself, what would my girls from the Hills do? That's exactly right, we hit the CLUBS! On a school night no less and we stayed out waaaay past 11:00pm.

Here we are at Modified( the exact equivalent of Les Deux I have been told.)
Matthew wanting to drown his sorrows in another man's Tecate.

Here are some of the other clubbers( 12 in total) acting to emo for school.
Your typical hipster line up (I was just glad that I DID get the memo about gray shirts, so hot right now.)

A shot of the band we saw, Ruby Suns, they put on a good show but those vintage 90's swim trunks were the real show stopper, naturally.

This is how our dinner table rolls PART II: urban bbq

(*I dont know how to link previous posts, but if I did, this would be 15% funnier, Im sure.)
People of Blog, in October of the previous year I posted a revealing post about what happens at my house around dinner time. It was entitled, How Our Dinner Table Rolls. As you can see I enlightened you all with this culinary delight: Lean Pockets and Cottage Cheese.

This raised some concern, especially from my mother(who had some very 1940's rooted sympathy for my husband.) Well mother (and blogees) I am also capable of making a meal in under 15 minutes with a much more pleasing color palate.

This is my George Foreman and inside this lean, mean, fat grilling machine are turkey burgers. Most importantly I have placed the foreman next to an open door in a well ventilated room. Otherwise you are going to smell like turkey burgers for three to four days.
Word Up!

* Lean pockets, if you are reading this, I want you to know that you are still my number One.
